If you follow me on FaceBook or Twitter, you may have become privy to the knowledge that I accidentally let my ‘real world’ friends find out about my blog. Now for as long as I have been blogging (counting my other blogs that’s nearly 3 years) I have kept my blogging life and my personal life separate. It began as a means of keeping my privacy and then turned into more of a secret world that I think in a way I enjoyed keeping a secret.
I guess what it comes down to now is that I no longer really need to be secretive. I don’t fear for my security and I think I’m mature and old enough to be safe online even if people learn where I am from or where I live now. Besides, where I live now is pretty big. My university is about the size of my whole town, city limits and outskirts included.
My sister and mom have known about my blog for a while now, though I was never very forth coming with information. My boyfriend probably knows the most about my blog of anyone in the ‘real world’ simply because I don’t hold back with him.
For those of you who are new to this style of blogging, I am a review and giveaway blogger, primarily. That means that companies give me the opportunity to try out and review their products on my blog. I’m also often given the opportunity to give away products on my blog. That means that you could have the chance to win some delightful freebies! (Now I just look rude for preventing you from having the opportunity to win, haha.)
SO, this is who I am and this is what I do with a TON of my free time. I don’t make a lot of money, but it is an opportunity for me to run my own business of sorts. I’m excited that I’ve chosen to let everyone know. I’m excited that I get the opportunity to add my blog to a resume for a job. I mean, owning and running your own profitable (though barely) business is QUITE the accomplishment to include on a resume. I mean, imagine the skills I’ve developed through this.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for understanding why I kept this separate for so long. And a HUGE thank you to the amazing women on my Facebook page who gave me to courage to get over myself and let the world know who I am and what I do. It’s not like I’m someone else online, so I have nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed by.
If you have an questions, leave me a comment! I always reply to comments. =)
P.S. Thank you to Jake M. in my ‘real world’ for making this come to be, though he doesn’t even know it’s all thanks to him. We’ve know each other since we were wee little ones going to the same elementary school.
Excuse any grammar/ spelling errors. I don’t want to edit this for fear I’ll change my mind. Haha.
- Bloggers: does your ‘real world’ know about your blog?
- Online friends: are you surprised to learn that no one in my ‘real world’ knew about my blog until now?
- ‘Real life’ friends (who happen to read this): are you surprised to learn that I’ve had a blog all along? Are you surprised to learn I’ve kept it a secret until now?
