Dear Readers: Goodbye, For Now *READ ME*

Just because I liked something at one point in time doesn’t mean I’ll always like it, or that I have to go on liking it at all points in time as an unthinking act of loyalty to who I am as a person, based solely on who I was as a person. To be loyal to myself is to allow myself to grow and change, and challenge who I am and what I think. The only thing I am for sure is unsure, and this means I’m growing, and not stagnant or shrinking.” ― Jarod Kintz

The time has come. If you’ve been reading my blog for some time now, at this point you’ve probably suspected this post was coming. While I had intended on maintaining this blog forever, or selling it off at some point in the future, that is no longer the case. I haven’t been active on here for a couple months now. It’s funny how once you have everything you thought you wanted, things still change and your desires become different. I’ve decided it’s time to take a break, for an unknown amount of time.

This blog has been a very important part of my life for the past 6+ years. I began this blog (back when it was MaeGal’s Fashion) when I was 17 year old. I’m sure those of you who are older than me can relate to how much change occurs between 17 and 24. It was an outlet for me in the beginning, a distraction from school when I needed a break, a fun way to keep connected with family (my friends didn’t know about this blog until many years later). I’ve enjoyed interacting with my readers, companies and writing reviews. I’ve enjoyed mail days, photographing new items for review, preparing and being organized in what needed to be done.

I’ve reached a point in my life where this blog no longer brings me the joy it use to. I didn’t want to make this decision too soon after I moved, fearing it was just my anxiety and depression acting up, but I’ve now determined that’s not the case. (I currently have 300 unread emails in my work inbox — UNHEARD of for me, I thought 50 was far too many). I don’t get pleasure out of the writing of reviews like I once did, and I don’t think that’s fair to the companies I work with nor my readers who expect quality reviews from me. Plus, it seems silly to be forcing myself to write when it use to bring me pleasure. I recently moved away from my small hometown to the big city of Seattle, WA. With that move came a new job, a change in my current job, a change in my relationship, and the adjustment that comes with city living and living with roommates again (5 of them!). For the past three months, I’ve been working three jobs, which is why my blog took a serious downfall. Now I’m back to just working the two jobs (full time together), but I’ve realized it’s just too much for me to keep blogging. Right now, I want to focus on my job and moving up the ladder. I really enjoy the two companies I work for and the work I’ve been doing (docketing/ paralegal work at a law firm).

I’m not selling my blog/website at this time, not am I officially closing it down, either. I’m just going to leave it here for the time being, pending on the interwebs. When the renewal for my domain and hosting comes up next year, I’ll decide then if I want to sell, renew the domain and keep the blog here, or possibly revert back to the free domain. I still think there is a chance I will want to come back to this blog in the future, perhaps as far into the future as when I have children and can review things for them. But I’m just not sure what the future brings right now.

As for my social media accounts, I’m going to keep them all open, but will only be maintaining the FaceBook fan page. (This is your best way to contact me/ stay in touch.) I won’t be posting reviews, etc. there anymore, obviously, but I’ll still post some fun social media type things, and perhaps try to share some giveaways from fellow bloggers. I’d like to keep interacting with you all on some level, and I think FaceBook is a good way to do that.

Thank you for all your support throughout the years. For those of you who have read my blog since the beginning, a special thank you to you for sticking around through so much. I hope you’ve enjoyed watching me grow up some? 🙂 If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask them below or contact me via my FaceBook Fan Page.

P.S. No promises yet, but it’s possible I’ll just go back to my very original idea of just having a blog to share my thoughts, strong opinions and other controversial topics. We shall see…

An Overdue Update

Greetings, MaeGal Readers!

If you follow me on Facebook you already know briefly what’s going on, if you follow me in Instagram I just now posted a brief update. I thought it was time for an update here on my actual blog, due to the nature and possible changes that this update brings.

You may have noticed that in the past three weeks this blog and most of my social media accounts have taken a serious dive in activity. That is due to a few things; 1) first a fore most, I moved to Seattle, Washington (about 3 hours from where I lived previously), 2) I moved with my job, but am now working remotely from home, 3) I started another job related to this first job of mine that is also remote, 4) I have a lot of changes and struggles going on with my relationship right now, and 5) I’m experiencing a lot of emotions I had been suppressing for some months on account of this change and being alone with my thoughts.

I do plan to continue to post review and keep MaeGal alive. (I was briefly considering moving on from this blog, but I don’t think I should make any big decisions like that right now.) I will continue to post reviews here, but I think I’m going to try and be more selective for a time and maybe try blogging only a couple times a week versus everyday. I think it’s time to focus less on the numbers and growing my blog, and just focus on maintaining right now.

So I hope you’ll stick around with my through yet another change. Thank you to all of those who read. I know there are still some of you who do, and I so appreciate you!

Rent a Textbook, Rent Your Textbook; Support Operation Smile

Books, Papers And Studies

Tired of spending HUNDREDS of dollars every quarter on textbooks? Still holding on to your old textbooks, not sure of what to do with them? It’s time you looked into renting textbooks, and renting your textbooks to other students!

Continue on to learn more about renting textbooks, renting out your textbooks, and how YOU can help Operation Smile with every rental…

Why rent from
1. You can save between 40-90% off bookstore prices, depending on the book.
2. Don’t spend a dime on shipping again! Free shipping both ways.
3. Worried about not being able to highlight if you rent a textbook? No need to worry, you CAN highlight!
4. Renting periods are flexible and can be adapted to your needs (quarter system, semester system, etc.).
5. For every book you rent, a donation is made to Operation Smile!

I know if I were to ever go back to school, renting would be the textbook obtaining method of choice. I spent a sizeable amount of money of textbooks over the course of my college career. While I sold almost all of them back, you never get nearly as much back as you put in. Every once in a while I’d luck out, but for the most part I would have saved much more money by renting.

How does it work? logo

What if I have books I’ve already purchased?
You can rent them to other students using the new!
RentBack is a great way for students to make money by renting their own textbooks out to others. Best of all, you end up making 2-4 times more money than you would have through a book buyback program!

Again, if I ever go back to school, I’ll be looking into this! If I were to buy a textbook again, I’d look into renting it. I currently have a couple books from my college years that aren’t worth enough to sell on Amazon and make it worthwhile. Not that I’ve been made aware of RentBack, I might very well have to check into renting those hard-to-sell texts of mine.

Remember! Every book you rent helps to support…
Operation Smile is a charity organization for children – donate non profit
“Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that performs safe, effective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, and delivers postoperative and ongoing medical therapies to children in low and middle income countries.”

Smilies and ‘Haha’s in Post; What Do You Think?

So, I have a question for all. Up until this point, I have been trying to refrain from using various smilies and minimal chat-speak in my posts. These are the smilies and chat-speak I would like to use in my posts, mainly because I like for my sarcasm and other things to come across;

=) or =(

The first, a smilie and sadface, etc., just incase I need a little face in my post. The second would be a winky face, which I like to use for the sake of humor or otherwise. The third is the little tongue out guy, which I use to denote sarcasm. And the last, for laughter, of course. Don’t worry, I’ll never use ‘LOL’. I just can’t personally handle many abbreviations. Weird thing of mine.

There are all things I use in texting and I don’t, or at least I try not to, overuse them. And I would be especially cautious in my posts. I’m just concerned it might not look as professional, but is it worth it or not…Hmm. But my question to you all is;

Should I use these in my posts, or try not to?

¡Adiós, hasta luego!

At this point, I am likely on the plane headed to Mexico. This will be the first time I’ve gone. I will be there from July 9th through July 22nd, meaning my blog will notice my absence. Also, unlike my US traveling, I will likely not even have email access (or very limited internet use).

  • While I am gone, a couple giveaway events I am in will end. Check out the original posts on the day the giveaway closes, it’s likely the winners will be announced there, as well as emailed.
  • I have some posts scheduled to go live when I’m gone in hopes of keeping it a bit active, but my Twitter and FaceBook should be pretty dead, unfortunately…just as I get my numbers back up.
  • I scheduled a couple FaceBook posts and might try and schedule some tweets so those pages don’t die. =/
  • I will be participating in the ‘Back to School Blast’ Giveaway Hop running August 1st-14th. I’m working of sponsors now, and I will again to get some fast ones when I return (having about 9 days until the hop).
    • Sponsors: If you have a ‘back to school’ related product for high school or college ages, send me an email and we can work fast when I return. Looking for: electronics, books, giftcards, dorm decor, snack foods, clothing, jewelry, school supplies, bags, etc.

What travel plans do you have this summer?

Announcements: Off to University!

Short announcement post…

I’m moving into my university dorm tomorrow. First year. I’ll be low on posts, if not completely absent, for a while.
