lake house french press coffee package

For review, I was sent the Lake House French Press Coffee Maker*. I use a french press nearly every day when I’m at home to make a cup of coffee, and it’s nice to have more than one press! With my recent move from my childhood home to the big city, I was thankful to have accumulated enough presses for both my mom and I to have a couple each.

As for this french press specifically, it’s not unlike others I’ve used in the past. However, it has a few key features that I really like, features that make this my favorite french press and they one that will be living with me (once I get it from back home, it got forgotten in the kitchen!). I like that overall sleek design of the packaging. The handle is made of plastic, so it doesn’t get hot when you add boiling water to it. The handle also has nice clearance between where your knuckles will be and the hot coffee, more clearance than other coffee presses I’ve used. The feet are stable and keep the coffee press level, an issue I had with another brand before.

I have the hardest time reviewing things like this, simply because I’m not totally sure what I want to talk about/ what I should mention. For products like these, it seems like a simple “it works as it should without issues and I recommend it” would suffice at times.

Overall, I like this Lake House French Coffee Press. It does the trick while looking stylish. I have no complaints and have used it a couple times now. My Mom also reports that she has had no issues, and used it just this morning (considering my leaving it behind). I would recommend this french press to anyone who is in the market for one.

For review, I was sent the Brillante™ Manual Coffee Grinder*. This grinder is made of ceramic, with the outside of the grinder being made of stainless steel/ aluminum/some sort of metal. Capable of making two persons worth of grounds in a couple of minutes, doing so silently, this grinder is perfect for a number of lifestyle situations.

Brillante Coffee Grinder |

I was excited (I need to come up with another word!) to try this grinder. I’ve used many electric grinders in the past, but I like that idea of a manual grinder for its silence and manual-ness. I like to do things myself. I was pleased to learn (after I’d made one batch of grounds) that this grinder has setting to adjust the grind size. Perfect for use with espresso machines, french presses, coffee makers, and any other method you may use.

Brillante Coffee Grinder Parts |

I used this grinder to grind myself up a single serving of coffee grounds for use with my french press. I’m looking forward to using this grinder when I move next month and begin to live with roommates. I’ll likely be making my morning coffee in my office, and it will be nice to not have to worry about the loud electric grinder waking my wall-mates.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed using and trying out this grinder. I’d like to try it with pepper and other spices next, as recommended by Brillante™. This grinder will certainly continue to be used by me. I’ll have to give the other ground size settings a try, too.

#Review: Supreme Kitchen Coffee & Tea French Press

disclaimer for disclosure |

For review, I was sent a french press from Supreme Kitchen. I’m a bit of a coffee snob, but usually my laziness prevents me from using french presses at work daily. However, for the weekends at home, I like to have a nice strong cup of french press coffee. My Mother uses her french presses everyday for her cup of coffee. French presses really do make the best coffee.

I was excited to review this french press for a couple of reasons. Currently, we own three french presses in my house (one of which is mine, the other two my Mother’s). It’s nice to have multiples so that we don’t have to clean the presses out every day to use them, just every few days once we run out.

I wanted to try out the Supreme Kitchen french press to add to the collection (when I move out, I’ll be taking it with me). I also wanted a slightly nicer looking french press. This one is made of glass and metal, with the only plastic parts being the handle and the top, inside of the lid. I’m particularly fond of this one visually. I’ve also never used a french press for tea, so I look forward to that future.

I appreciate that this product comes in a little kit that includes additional filter screen, a spoon for scooping coffee beans, and a metal spoon for stirring.

I have two points of contention with the product, however, only one of which would possibly affect my purchasing of this coffee press in the future;

1. The metal frame that holds in the glass beaker does not sit flush to the counter. One of the legs (perhaps just an issue with my particular french press) is a bit shorter that the other making the press a tad wobbly. A bit annoying, but nothing that affects the functionality of the product nor deter me from using it.

2. The lid/filter piece has so many little parts! My Mother has had a french press lid like this before, and they’re a real bummer to have to clean if you’re using it daily. In a comparison, the Supreme Kitchen lid/filter has about 5 pieces, versus the other lids I use that have about 3 pieces. I plan to use this base with a lid I already own from another french press whose base was broken- a perfect solution.

Overall, I like the base of this french press quite a bit, but I have some problems with the lid. If you plan to use this press only on occassion, I think it’s perfect. If you plan to use it for daily coffee or tea brewing, you may want to consider the cleaning involved. This french press would also likely be more ideal for tea, as the bigger tea leaves versus smaller coffee grounds.

Review: Wave Three Coffee- Artisanal Smooth Dark Roast

Wave Three Artisanal Smooth Dark Roast Coffee |

For review, I was sent a bag of Wave Three Coffee. More specifically, the Artisanal Smooth Dark Roast Coffee. This coffee is certified USDA organic, fair trade and sustainably grown. Continue on to read my review….

I was excited for this review, as I always seem to be for everything, but really! I’m quite the fan of coffee, specifically dark roast. Lately I’ve been rewatching Gilmore Girls on Netflix, and that just has me even more back into being a coffee person again.

Wave Three Coffee Organic Fair Trade Sustainable |

I have a big cup every morning at work in the office, but on the weekends I like to have coffee around the house. I love to brew a nice cup or two of coffee with my French Press (by far my most prefered method of making coffee). It’s my Mom’s fault I like strong coffee, French Press’s, and also grinding my own beans every day. I go whole beans to review so I could grind them myself.

Wave Three Dark Roast Coffee Beans |

As for Wave Three Coffee, I’m quite pleased with it! I think it makes for a delicious cup of coffee that suits my taste buds and my need for flavor in a coffee. I can’t really describe flavors of coffee in an sort of fancy terms, but it tastes great if you’re a dark roast fan.

Wave Three Organic Dark Roast Artisanal Whole Bean Coffee |

Overall, I quite like this coffee (as does my Mom, she tried a cup herself). I like that this coffee is organic and fair trade, makes me feel good while enjoying my cup of coffee. I would certainly recommend this coffee to any lover of the beverage.

Continue on to read my review for Vidacup Coffee!

For review I was sent three samples of each of VidaCups three flavors.
• Ageless Brew, all natural low calorie latte
• Mo-Joe, gormet all natural coffee
• Xtreme High Energy, more energy without the crash

I was excited to review these coffees, because I’m quite a fan. I haven’t been drinking as much this year as I did last year, but I use to have a cup of my french press coffee every morning. To give theme coffee flavors a try, I used my french press. The grounds were designed for a coffee marker size wise, so they were a bit finely ground for the french press, but I made it work. Unfortunately, I left the remaining samples at my apartment when I came home for winter break, so I have to go one the one time I tried each flavor to review on. I’ll certainly update when I finish the other samples. Keep posted because I really would like to update this post once I finish the other samples.

You can learn more about each of these three coffees on the VidaCup website. They go into really nice detail about each of the coffees so you can get an idea about which is best for you.

All three flavors tasted good to me as I recall. They all tasted pretty good to me. I like a pretty dark roast. I can’t say I particularly noticed the energy, but I drank the coffee in the morning. I’d like to try drinking the Xtreme High Energy coffee later in the evening next time, so I will be able to tell if I got an energy boost. Coffee usually doesn’t have much affect on my as it does others, but it should like the make of this coffee might actually be a nice boost for late night bursts of energy while writing papers in the wee hours of the night. All the flavors tasted great with a little milk, as I always have my coffee. I think at this point the Mo-Joe is my favorite, but we’ll see if my tastes change once I finish them all. Yum!
